Polarity Therapy Part II

"The exceptional patient is the person who, despite their diagnosis, takes charge of their health and decides to be responsible to their illness or their condition and not necessarily feel responsible for it. One stance is drenched in blame and the other is full of power."— Christiane Northrup, MD
As a teacher and practitioner of Polarity Therapy, I am always reminding my students and myself that you must form a partnership with your clients. The polarity practitioner holds a strong, safe container for their clients to explore what is in the way of well being. And although we are very skilled in what we do, true healing for our clients cannot occur without commitment and a willingness to explore the root causes of tension, stress, dis-ease, being stuck, or lack of life-force (feeling like ourselves).
Polarity Therapy allows the client to build strength in order to let go of what is in the way of healing. Communication between the practitioner and client is of utmost importance and must be CLEAR. Together we discuss why the client is seeking polarity and what they would like to envision for their life. How would they like to FEEL? What would they change and why? Are they willing to explore old patterns that do not support them and choose to empower themselves by listening deeply to their wisdom? Are they able to love themselves and RECEIVE support? Are they aware that in order to evolve and heal, they must take responsibility for their health and create change?
Most of us have difficulty facing our "crap" and feel we are powerless to make the changes. We are so consumed with work, family, technology, and NOISE that we cannot even hear our inner signals when they sound off. Polarity Therapy allows the client to be HEARD, to voice what they might not even realize is creating what they don't want. I truly believe that in order to create positive change, you have to KNOW what you want to change. Ignorance creates inertia and we remain stuck - feeling like a victim. We have to WANT to change, to be happier, to know we deserve to be free of what doesn't support us and our highest good.
"The more you move toward what makes you feel good, and move away from those things which bring you distress and pain, the healthier you will be." — Christiane Northrup, M.D.
